Not all HDMI are Created Equal!!
Posted September 12th, 2007. 5:02pm by: Justin
Not all HDMI cables are created equal.
All Apature HDMI cables are high performance and will handle 1080p but perhaps more important it can keep you out of trouble with the building inspectors. Apature HDMI cables have an NEC Class 3 rating for in wall, in ceiling placement. Most HDMI cables do not. Remember to use Apature HDMI with your next projector installation.

Denon

Well, folks... It’s that time of year again! The time of year that everyone begins the mad rush to the store to purchase folders, pens and pencils for the kids heading back to school. The time of year when we begin to take inventory of our batteries, water and candles in an effort to prepare for the possible hurricanes. It is also the time of year that we begin to wonder, what has happened to all of the Denon Receivers?
Because of Denon’s popularity between both the Custom Installer and Retail markets, we seem to find a shortage in product availability. This year is no different. Once again, Denon has informed us that they are out of stock on the current year models. But, do not fret, they are actively working to bring out the new models for 2008 now to keep us all from being stranded. These new models will have cool new features such as HDMI version 1.3, HDMI 2/1 Switching, On Screen Display and the higher end models will have Analog to HDMI scaling to 1080p and digital to analog conversion for multi-zone connection flexibility. It is very difficult to nail down an exact date for these new models to arrive in the US, however, we have the following tentative schedule:
* AVR-988 Week of 8/26 * AVR-888 Week of 9/22 * AVR-788 Second Half of September * AVR-688 First Half of September * AVR-588 First Half of September
* Please note that per the manufacturer, these dates are tentative. We at Interlect will make every effort to inform you with any updates that we receive!!!

What is Anamorphic Widescreen?
Posted August 24th, 2007. 4:09pm by: Justin
What is Anamorphic Widescreen and how can I use it? All current Knoll projectors, HD178, HD282, HD284, HD290, HD292, the new HDP420 and a soon to be announced HDP410 can display 2.35:1 anamorphic images without the need of an external scaler. By the way the Knoll HDP410 and 420 are 1080P projectors.
Many movies are filmed in 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio or Cinemascope, So why are we watching them on a 1.78:1 or 16:9 screen???
Why not view movies in Anamorphic or Cinemascope?
Well the downside is: It is expensive and the Anamorphic lens is not very attractive. It will also cause distortion when watching 1.33:1 or 4:3 aspect ratio film. (There is a solution for this)
Remember the HDTV format of 1.78:1 is a compromise between NTSC or Standard TV which is 1.33:1 (HDTV is 33% wider) and Cinemascope or Anamorphic 2.35:1 (HDTV is 33% narrower).
An anamorphic lens allows you to watch the movie in its origional Cinemascope aspect ratio (without the black bars) thereby getting the benefit of higher resolution by using the whole Texas Instruments DMD chip (in the projector) rather than just the center part with black bars above and below the image.
The scaler built in Knoll projectors widens the image to cover the whole DLP chip and then when the image goes through an (optional) anamorphic lens it bends it back down to 2.35:1 so you get the highest possible resolution (and increased brightness) of the picture with the correct screen aspect ratio.
Many other projectors need an external scaler that may have poor quality or one not designed to handle anamorphic information.
To view a movie in 2.35:1 you need a 2.35:1 screen (with Elite Screens we have you covered) a Knoll projector, and a Panamorph lens adaptor.
Yes, the Panamorph lens are ungainly and mount right in front of the projector. They are available for as little as $1000 but some advanced models can cost several times more.
But the Upside is: The resulting picture can be quite amazing and to many video-philes a real revelation!

K-5LCR Review

The Preference line of In Wall and In Ceiling Speakers are so profitable for Dealers that we often forget just how well they are engineered and how very good they sound.
The folks at Preference Loudspeakers realize that the last step in a properly designed speaker system is the installation. A dealer must be properly compensated for a quality install.
We price these products to allow extreme dealer margins yet the product still performs well above most comparably priced product.
By providing a benchmark of audio sound quality, offering the dealer superior margins and a lifetime warranty for the consumer makes Preference a truly groundbreaking product. Don't believe us, just check out this review from highly respected magazine.
